Hosted by Bristol Cabot Choir
On Saturday 20 June 2026, Bristol Cabot Choir hosted a special Come & Sing celebration of Vaughan Williams’ The Lark Ascending.
Singers learned and rehearsed the work with the fantastic resources on Choir of the Earth Library before they gathered in the very place where this beloved masterpiece first took flight - Shirehampton Public Hall, the site of its original premiere on 15 December 1920.
Our very own Musical Director, Ben England, conducted, and was joined by pianist John Talbot and gifted violinist Greta Murmaité, who embodied the spirit of the Lark itself, soaring above the choir with her luminous playing.
Bristol Cabot Choir have kindly invited Choir of the Earth Members to watch the final concert. This was livestreamed on the day but technical issues resulted in poor sound quality. The concert will be re-streamed with improved sound on Friday 26 June 2026 at 17:00 UTC+1 (UK time), so please do enjoy!
If you are moved to do so, Bristol Cabot Choir have nominated a charity to receive donations from those who enjoy the concert. There are details in the video description on YouTube.
