Summer School 2024: Grieg, Chilcott and Evensong in Finland | June/July/August 2024
Our Summer School in 2024 was one of our most diverse ever, with our Marvellous Musical Director Ben England leading us through a variety of treats including stunning music from Edvard Grieg and others in June; Bob Chilcott in July; and a grand Finnish in August with our Evensong collaboration live from Espoo near Helsinki.
Johannes Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem with the Bergen Philharmonic | teaching from 8 April to 14 May 2024
Choir of the Earth was excited and honoured to collaborate with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir again, this time performing alongside their Grieghallen perfomance of Johannes Brahms’ Requiem in German (Ein Deutsches Requiem). Our singers learned the work and recorded alongside the Bergen recordings to create a new, enhanced rendition of the performance.
Samuel Barber’s Agnus Dei | launched Monday 26 February 2024
Join Choir of the Earth's marvellous Musical Director Ben England BEM from Monday 26 February 2024 at 17:00 UK time for our latest digital choir course to learn, sing and record Samuel Barber's Agnus Dei - Barber's own choral arrangement of his famous Adagio For Strings.
Don’t worry if you are discovering this course after it has started - all of our rehearsals are recorded and you are very welcome to join us at any time and catch up when it suits you best.
Whether you know it from orchestral recitals, movie soundtracks or a nightclub dance floor, Samuel Barber's Adagio is an instantly recognisable piece of classical music. His choral arrangement - a setting of the liturgical Agnus Dei - is just as achingly beautiful and a real favourite amongst those who have sung the piece.
We invite absolutely everybody to enjoy this launch session, where Ben introduces the piece and plays the guide tracks recorded for us by the fantastic Fieri Consort, as well as some other treats:
