Join Choir of the Earth from Monday 31 March 2025 for our latest choral adventure, Quartet of Kyries, where our Musical Director Ben England will guide you through four magnificent Kyries from across the choral repertoire.
A Kyrie is a beautiful and deeply expressive musical setting of the traditional Christian prayer “Kyrie eleison", which translates as "Lord, have mercy”. Typically forming part of the mass, the Kyrie has inspired countless composers throughout history to create some of their most moving and intimate works, combining rich harmonies and profound spirituality.
In this course, which runs over four weeks in total, we will explore a different Kyrie each week:
Kyrie from Palestrina’s Missa Papae Marcelli
Kyrie from Rheinberger’s Double Mass in E Flat
Kyrie from Schubert’s Mass in A Flat
Mozart’s Kyrie in D Minor
The first week of the course begins on 31 March 2025, followed by a two-week Easter break, with the final three weeks resuming on 21 April 2025.
