Choir of the Earth is a global online choir run by non-profit organisation Earth Choir Academy. We offer high-quality, accessible music education to singers of all experience levels, with flexible learning designed to fit around your life, wherever in the world you are.
This informational launch session is open to everyone, as Musical Director Ben England introduces Handel’s Messiah and explains how the course will work.
Messiah is one of the most well-known and widely performed choral works in the world, and this course offers a unique opportunity to learn to sing it in detail - movement by movement, voice part by voice part, note by note - over 14 weeks. You will be guided throughout Ben - an award-winning teacher and conductor - and supported by a range of top-tier resources.
In this live session, Ben will set the context by introducing Handel’s Messiah and demonstrating the tools we will use throughout the course, including:
Guide tracks recorded especially for us by the fantastic Fieri Consort, used both in teaching and independently to support accurate, inspiring learning
Soundslice ‘living score’ technology, which Ben will use to teach on screen during each rehearsal. Members will also have the opportunity to buy their own copy of the Messiah Soundslices at a heavily discounted rate, providing extra support for independent rehearsal
You can also get to know our amazing global choral community and ask our helpful team any questions you may have in the live text chat, which will run throughout the session.
The course includes five livestreamed rehearsals each week on YouTube - one for the full choir and one for each voice part (soprano, alto, tenor and bass) - all of which are also available to watch live or later on demand, whenever suits you. You do not need any prior choral experience - just a willingness to learn and sing your heart out at home.
Singers who take part in the course will also have the option to record themselves singing and be part of Choir of the Earth’s Christmas performance for 2025.
