On Thursday 12 December 2024 at 17:00 GMT, join Choir of the Earth for our Quanta Qualia 3 Concert Performance, where Musical Director, Ben England BEM, conducts singers from around the globe in this breathtaking rendition of Patrick Hawes’ iconic work.
This is the first opportunity for participants and listeners to experience the final mix, featuring Laura Peribañez Artero's exquisite new cello solo.
Quanta Qualia 3 is a monumental project that unites the vocal recordings of our global singers submitted over the summer of 2024, with voices recorded for Quanta Qualia 1 in 2020 and Quanta Qualia 2 in 2021. This makes it (we believe!) the largest performance of the piece in the world - a true celebration of global collaboration and the joy of singing.
The piece, composed by Patrick Hawes with text by his brother Andrew Hawes, explores themes of hope and the profound joy of reunion, encapsulated in its poignant Latin text:
“O anima mea, mane! O quanta qualia conventus gaudia erunt.”
("O my soul, wait! O how great and how wonderful the joys of meeting will be.")
