Bergenphilive: Bergen Philharmonic presents Beethoven's Violin Concerto & Brahms’ Requiem, live from the Grieghallen in Bergen, Norway | Livestream begins 22 March 2024 at 19:30 Central European Time (18:30 UK time)

On 8 April 2024, Choir of the Earth will launch our latest course, to learn, record and create a hybrid live/digital performance of Brahms’ Requiem with Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus - our second project of this kind with this world-leading musical organisation!

Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus, along with Edvard Grieg Kor, Collegium Musicum Choir and soloists Johanna Wallroth (soprano) and Brian Mulligan (baritone), will perform Brahms’ Requiem on 21 and 22 March 2024 at the Grieghallen in Bergen, Norway, under Chief Conductor Edward Gardner. As a bonus, Beethoven’s violin concerto will also be performed with violin soloist Isabelle Faust. Full details are available here.

The audio and conducting of the Brahms’ Requiem will be captured by Bergen’s phenomenal audiovisual team and will be used to create the resources we will learn, sing and record along with during our course. When we have recorded our voices, they will be mixed with the recordings from the Grieghallen to create our enhanced hybrid performance.

The Bergen Philharmonic are very kindly livestreaming the concert on the second evening - Friday 22 March - on their Bergenphilive platform. We encourage you to enjoy this and to use it to familiarise yourself with the piece if it is new to you, and with this particular performance if you have sung it before, as it will of course be the basis for our own upcoming course with Ben.

Enjoy!
