Byrd Mass for Five Voices in Lincoln


Join Choir of the Earth for an extraordinary "Digital-to-Cathedral" odyssey to the medieval heart of Lincoln. This unique experience offers the chance to learn from and perform alongside The Gesualdo Six, culminating in a joint performance of William Byrd’s Mass for Five Voices in magnificent Lincoln Cathedral - where Byrd once served as Master of the Choristers.

Supported by our premium digital rehearsal tracks and the expert guidance of Ben England BEM, this event seamlessly combines our world-leading digital teaching materials with a powerful in-person singing experience alongside some of the world’s finest Renaissance specialists.

About the Trip

  • Exclusive Collaboration with The Gesualdo Six: A unique opportunity to work closely with one of the world’s finest vocal ensembles, featuring an elite choral workshop, an intimate private performance for attendees, and the chance to sing alongside them in our final concert.

  • The Concert: A magnificent joint performance with The Gesualdo Six in the Nave of Lincoln Cathedral, bringing our "Digital-to-Cathedral" journey to a spectacular close in the very building where Byrd served as Master of the Choristers.

  • The Music: A programme featuring some of the greatest highlights of English renaissance choral music. These include not only Byrd’s Mass for Five Voices, but also his Ave Verum Corpus, alongsidemusic by Thomas Tallis and Orlando Gibbons.

  • Expert Leadership: Intensive in-person rehearsals, musical direction, and an opening night popular and folk sing-along all led by the joyful expertise of Ben England BEM.

  • Learning Resources: Full access to premium digital teaching videos and rehearsal tracks to provide a thorough musical foundation before we meet in Lincoln.

Accommodation: 3 nights at the DoubleTree by Hilton Lincoln, including a daily buffet breakfast.

  • Singers Ticket Price: £899 per person (sharing a twin/double room).

  • Single Supplement: £250 for an upgrade to a private single hotel room.

  • Non-Singing Travel Companions: We warmly welcome singers to book for a non-singing room mate to join the group and enjoy the full tour itinerary, social events, and accommodation at a reduced rate of £599.

  • Places available: Maximum 150 singers plus up to 20 non-singing travel companions. Alto bookings limited to 45.
