This April-June, Choir of the Earth Events proudly presents Around Sound: The Elements of Music, an engaging eight-part online lecture series led by award-winning educator Ben England BEM.
This fascinating course explores the essential components that shape all music - Pitch, Harmony, Tonality, Rhythm, Form/Structure, Timbre, Texture, and Dynamics.
Through engaging explanations, musical examples, and a touch of humour, Ben will guide you through how music is constructed, why certain sounds evoke powerful emotions, and how composers make creative choices that define their masterpieces.
Whether you're rekindling a love for music, taking your first steps into music theory, or deepening your understanding as an experienced musician, this course promises to educate, entertain, and inspire in equal measure.
Around Sound: The Elements of Music is delivered via YouTube livestreams, each lasting around 80 minutes, followed immediately by a live Zoom discussion and Q&A.
The sessions will take place on Tuesdays, starting at 19:00 BST (UK time). The dates of the lectures will be 22 and 29 April and 6, 13 and 20 May, followed by a two-week break, with the final sessions on 3, 10 and 17 June 2025.
Both the lectures and Zoom sessions are recorded, so if you are unable to attend the sessions live, you will be able to catch up when it suits you best, wherever you are in the world.
