Join Choir of the Earth on Monday 24 March 2025 for the public launch of our latest choral adventure, Quartet of Kyries.

During this course, our Musical Director Ben England will guide you through four magnificent Kyries from across the choral repertoire.

A Kyrie is a beautiful and deeply expressive musical setting of the traditional Christian prayer “Kyrie eleison", which translates as "Lord, have mercy”. Typically forming part of the mass, the Kyrie has inspired countless composers throughout history to create some of their most moving and intimate works, combining rich harmonies and profound spirituality.

In this course, which runs over four weeks in total, we will explore a different Kyrie each week:

  • Kyrie from Palestrina’s Missa Papae Marcelli

  • Kyrie from Rheinberger’s Double Mass in E Flat

  • Kyrie from Schubert’s Mass in A Flat

  • Mozart’s Kyrie in D Minor

The first two weeks of the course begin on 24 March 2025, followed by a two-week Easter break, with the final two weeks resuming on 21 April 2025.

No matter your level of experience, Choir of the Earth welcomes everyone to take part. Our friendly and flexible learning style ensures that you can participate in a way that suits you: attend live and chat with your fellow singers around the world and our friendly team in the live text chat, or catch up when it suits you best via recordings of the sessions.

You'll have access to our world-class resources, including expertly prepared guide tracks and comprehensive teaching from Ben, ensuring a truly rewarding musical journey.  Click here for more about how COTE works.

Once you’ve learned the music, you can record yourself singing at home, adding your voice to our four Kyries for a unique global online choir performance, mixed by our talented professional audio engineers. The mixing for this project has been very kindly funded by a generous anonymous donor within the Choir, to whom we are very grateful.

To take part in our public course launch session, please just play the video at the top of this page at - or after - 17:00 BST on Monday 24 March 2025.
