Vivaldi - Gloria

in association with ChoraLine

Antonio Vivaldi wrote 3 Glorias - one is considered lost and the other two have enjoyed contrasting success - RV 588 is rarely performed whilst RV 589 is one of the most performed choral works across the world. Written in 1715, the Gloria as we now know it was rarely performed until it burst onto the scene during a Vivaldi Week in Sienna in 1939. It is incredible to think that it had lain almost unheard for over 200 years.

It’s bright clear sound never ceases to bring a smile to the face of every single choral singer and no matter how many times we have sung it, most of us look forward to singing it again and again.

Live Rehearsals

Led by our Musical Director, Ben England, we start the course with LIVE rehearsals on Monday 17th August for each voice part with a concert of the complete work on Friday 21st August. We have been busy recording the complete Gloria in isolation on a prestigious London Church organ with organist Richard Gowers and with the amazing Fieri Consort (www.fiericonsort.co.uk) who have sung the whole work in isolation for us. We shall use these recordings as the basis for our learning. Each voice part will have its own separate version so that you can listen and learn your own voice part without the others - and when you know it, you can sing it with the whole choir too. And try the solos as well - why not?

We have a special arrangement with ChoraLine, which allows you an exclusive 50% discount for their practice recordings. You will receive more details about this with your joining instructions.
