Mozart’s Lacrimosa arr. Martín Palmeri | A conducted concert performance and music video by Choir of the Earth

Members of Choir of the Earth met online in June, July and August 2023 for our popular Summer School, at which we learned a diverse range of pieces with Musical Director, Ben England.

We are very proud that this includes the world premiere of a piece commissioned by Choir of the Earth from Argentinian composer Martín Palmeri, whose work Misatango, we previously performed.

This is Mozart like you’ve never heard him before: an Argentinian tango completion of the famous Lacrimosa from his Requiem - a movement that Wolfgang completed only 8 bars of before he died.

Like much of Palmeri’s music, even the most cynical listener soon finds themself submitting to the tango rhythms. The Choir recorded their voices singing this fascinating piece, which our audio engineers have now mixed in the studio, and on Monday 11 December 2023 at 17:00 UK time, Ben will go live to present the world premiere.

He will firstly conduct live on screen for those who wish to sing along at home, and then share a music video that pairs the performance with images to evoke the spirit of the piece.

Absolutely everybody is very welcome to join us.
