We intend to record thousands of voices singing the hymn
ETERNAL FATHER, STRONG TO SAVE
which was so beautifully sung by 4 choristers at Prince Philip’s recent funeral
We shall then present our version of the hymn to Her Majesty The Queen on Thursday 10th June which would have been Prince Philip’s 100th Birthday.
Here is the congregation in full voice at Portsmouth Cathedral: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjcSpCSUjdk
We are asking you to record your version of this hymn on your mobile phone and send it to us. We shall then combine all our voices in the studio to create one huge sound.
A short Concert Performance will be arranged so that everyone can hear the hymn with us all singing.
How it will work
You will be emailed everything you need once you join in.
We are taught the hymn (tune only) in online sessions with Ralph Allwood MBE.
We have provided rehearsal tracks of the hymn as sung by the Old Royal Naval College Trinity Laban Chapel Choir, London, conducted by Ralph Allwood MBE, for us to learn the music and the words.
We have provided details of how to record your own voice and where to send it along with a picture of yourself for inclusion in a mosaic picture of everyone.
This will also be presented to Her Majesty The Queen.
Timings
The sessions with Ralph Allwood MBE will be emailed to you
Submissions for your recording and headshot picture will close on Friday 21st May.
After that date, we shall combine all voices in the studio to be complete by Thursday 10th June.
We shall arrange a session when we shall play the final result to everyone.
This is Free
Singing this hymn with thousands of others is free of charge. We would encourage everyone in the Commonwealth and beyond and anyone who has been through the Duke of Edinburgh Awards to take part.
We shall donate any net proceeds (after sound engineering and credit card costs) to The Duke of Edinburgh International Award.
