Choir of the Earth Presents Haydn's "Nelson" Mass Premiere
This Friday, 27 September 2024 at 17:00 UK time, Choir of the Earth will premiere its concert performance of Joseph Haydn’s “Nelson” Mass (Missa in Angustiis).
Led by Musical Director, Ben England, this performance brings together the voices of our global choir, recorded remotely and expertly mixed into a stunning interpretation of Haydn’s choral masterpiece.
Recorded earlier this year by singers from across the world, the performance features Richard Gowers on the organ and soloists from the acclaimed Fieri Consort. Together, they bring Haydn’s “Nelson” Mass to life - a work composed in 1798 at a time of great global unrest, which has become one of his most celebrated creations.
Those joining us live can optionally chat to our friendly international singers, team and other audience members in the live text chat, making this a truly interactive and engaging experience. Alternatively, pop on your headphones, sit back and relax, and let this stunning music wash over you. If you can’t make the premiere live, you can catch up at a time that suits you using the same link above.
This course and performance are part of Choir of the Earth’s Six Late Masses series, exploring each of Haydn’s remarkable Six Late Masses, composed for his patrons, the Esterházy family, between 1796 and 1802, and considered to be among his finest sacred works.
