Africa

These sessions can be watched at anytime and as often as you like - you do not have to be here for the live sessions.

"Africa" is a song by American rock band Toto, the tenth and final track on their fourth studio album Toto IV (1982). The song was written by band members David Paich and Jeff Porcaro, produced by the band, and mixed by Grammy-winning engineer Elliot Scheiner. Critics praised its composition and Toto's performances.

The song reached number one on the United States' Billboard Hot 100 chart, the band's only Billboard number one, and number one on the Canadian charts. It also peaked in the top ten in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, and Switzerland.

Here is a video of the arrangement we shall learn on this course and across various platforms, it has over 100,000,000 views. Angel City Choral, the choir in the video below, won the Golden Buzzer to reach the Semi-Final of AMERICA’S GOT TALENT in 2018.

We are learning exactly the same arrangement with Sue Fink, the same wonderful conductor.

Sue Fink

Sue Fink, who conducts the Angel City Chorale in Los Angeles in this amazing performance returns to teach us this version. She will teach it to us in live from her studio.

Sue founded the Angel City Chorale in Los Angeles, California (www.angelcitychorale.org). The group consists of 165 members and they are well-known around the world. Also, their performance of "Baba Yetu", another song they have on their YouTube channel has over a million views. The group travels internationally to packed houses across the world.

How It Will Work

Sue will teach us the the entire song in one week:

Sound effects

-

The Chorus

-

The Solos

Once we have learned our part, we are invited to record our own voice and send this to Choir of the Earth. We shall then combine all the voices/sound effects together in the recording studio to create a marvellous sound. We shall then replay this to the entire choir across the world in a Concert Performance led by Sue.
