Warm-Up Exercises

As with any muscle in our body, the voice needs to be well prepared for its exercise. At The Self-Isolation Choir, we concentrate on our own voice more than in a “same room” choir because we sing more on our own and we need to prepare our voice for recording. This allows us to focus more on our own instrument. We are now recording artists and need to be in the best shape!

In response to demands from the choir, one of our choristers, Angela Reichenbach, has put together a series of videos to help us exercise our voice and warm-up. Her friendly, relaxed and informative style learned from teaching vocal technique is infectious. She also spent some time looking after the more ageing voice.

For All Voices

General warm up sessions designed for all singers, split into four videos. Each warm up is made up of three sections: stretching, breathing and singing. Our instructor, Angela, takes you through each section in a warm and fun way, adding background research and inspirational quotes to motivate and prepare you for any rehearsal and recording session.

For The Ageing Voice

These warm up sessions are designed to gently prepare the older voice for rehearsal. The two warm up videos provide stretches (with modifications for reduced range of motion), activities that increase breath control and vocal exercises to help maintain your vocal range. Angela's supportive style will have you ready for any rehearsal and recording session.
