SIC Musical Director talks Messiah at Home with the Royal Philharmonic Society

The Self-Isolation Choir’s marvellous Musical Director Ben England has taken part in a series of conversations by the Royal Philharmonic Society, to share his experiences of leading the Messiah at Home project online this spring.

The RPS Conversation addresses the extraordinary outburst of music-making at home since lockdown began, what it says about the nation’s musical spirit, and what it might signify for the future of music-making in the UK.

‘The RPS Conversation - Music on the home front’ is introduced by RPS Chief Executive James Murphy and features Ben as one of four individuals who have each done “remarkable musical deeds” in lockdown. Ben speaks about the challenges faced by our singers and how it provided a wonderful focus for us in challenging times.

The conversation comes in two parts, and you can watch both Part 1 and Part 2 here.
