We are delighted to bring to the Choir a course of traditional

EVENSONG

in partnership with the Royal School of Church Music and The Evensong Trust

celebrating the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty the Queen

Our Church

The Church we shall be using for our service is St Gabriel's, Pimlico. This is an Anglo-Catholic church in the Deanery of Westminster within the Diocese of London. You can read about its history here: https://www.stgabrielspimlico.com/st-gabriels-church-building

We have filmed a complete EVENSONG service at this beautiful church.

The St. Gabriel’s Church Choir is led by James Day with Richard Gowers on the organ.

The church is provided for our use by kind permission of Father Owen Higgs.

How it Will Work

We have partnered with the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM) and the Evensong Trust to create a course to reflect a true Evensong service. We shall learn the music online in April/May 2022 and then we shall be invited to record our own voice (audio only) from home. We shall then combine all voices in the recording studio for a full EVENSONG on Sunday 12th June 2022 at 18:00 BST, which is the RSCM Music Sunday. If you decide to make a recording (and this is not compulsory - you are most welcome to come along for the fun and not record at all), we shall combine all voices in the studio to create the “choir” and play this back to everybody at an online Evensong from St. Gabriel’s Church.

You do not need to be an expert singer and you may join in as much or as little as you wish.

We shall follow the traditional EVENSONG format as follows:
